"In the military community, service members and veterans are more likely to engage in disordered eating patterns than civilians."

In this special episode of Red White and Boo, our host Taylor Hester sits down with Leah Stiles, a retired Senior Chief Mass Communication Specialist from the Navy, to discuss her mission of breaking the stigma around eating disorders within the military. After her time in the Navy, Leah founded Sea Waves, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing support for military service members and their dependents struggling with eating disorders.

Leah discusses the importance of Sea Waves’ work in breaking the silence around eating disorders in the military. Through education, resources, and support, SeaWaves empowers service members and their families to navigate these challenges with hope and resilience. Leah highlights that no one should have to face this storm alone, emphasizing that it’s crucial to seek help and lean on others in times of struggle.
